I was awaken by a phone call that La Migra was in the Canal. Since my
brothers and nephews live in the canal area, I called them to warn them. It was 6:00 and there was no response and I started to get worried. I decided to drive to their house and as I approached the driveway, I saw all their cars and I knew something was wrong. I saw that nobody was home and that’s when the neighbors told me they were taken by La Migra. I didn’t know where they were, didn’t know who to call, I didn’t know what to do. pause
I later found out that they were taken in the middle of the night around 4:30 a.m. My brothers heard a loud noise and they thought someone needed help and they opened the door. That was their mistake because it was La Migra. My brothers and nephews didn’t even get a chance to put on their clothes. One of my brothers was hit in the back and knees and out of fear he signed his deportation letter. I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again.
